Due Date Today
Today is the due date, but still no baby. Doctor's appt. didn't give much more info. Lisa hasn't made any more progress towards labor. Looks like Alex is going to be smaller than originally thought last week; Dr. says "I think he is smaller than I thought", so we'll see when he makes his grand appearance. We have been scheduled for induction next Tuesday, August 25th at 5am, if he doesn't come on his own before that. So, we have a new date to look forward to. We will see the doctor again on Monday to get hooked up to the monitor to make sure that Alex is ok before the induction. No reason to believe that he won't be ok, just want to make sure due to it being past the due date. We will let everyone know as soon as we know more whether that is labor or next Monday after the doctor's appt. Lisa is still feeling ok, though uncomfortable and is still working. She just feels like she wants to keep busy and save her time off to spend with Alex.

39 weeks and counting

Yet, another doctor's appt. today. Lisa is dilated to "a tight 2", but up to 80% effaced. The doctor says that all is still looking good. He is thinking Alex is looking like 7 3/4 lbs. which would be 7 lbs 12 oz. Lisa has gained a total of 15 lbs herself. So, we are just hanging out waiting for him to enter the world. We see the doctor again next Wednesday, on the due date, and they will decide then "how long to let Lisa go". We of course, are not hoping to see the doctor in the office on Wednesday because we hope that Alex will be in our arms and maybe even at home. But only time will tell. Check back next week for more info.

38 weeks and doctor appt.
Saw the doctor again today. Not much change still dilated between a 1 and a 2, but 50% thinned or efaced. He has moved a little lower and Lisa is measuring less due to this. Lisa lost 3 pounds from last week, but doctor says that's ok and "normal". Lisa is still in quite a bit of discomfort some days. When that happens it really stinks, otherwise it's going ok and all is smooth. We got the car seats installed yesterday and still everything is ready to go for him to come and enter the world. We see the doctor again next Thursday in the morning so we will hope for more news then.

It's getting close
Went to the doctor today and Lisa is dilated between at 1 and a 2. At first she said "you're at a 2" and then said "well maybe between a 1 and a 2". So, we will go for that in case we don't do much more next week it will feel like more. Also, 40-50% thinned and "he's right there" which means he is head down and has moved down to where he needs to be to come out. So, we are soooooooooo very excited. Still know we have some time left, but he is doing everything that he needs to do to get ready to enter the world and all on his own. We go back next Thursday in the am, so should have another post later that day. Lisa is still doing well. There are times and days that she is feeling uncomfortable and in some pain, but we know that is because he is moving down and moving everything out of the way. She's really hoping to make it to work through at least next week, but after that she says she ready for labor. Keep us still in your thoughts and we will let you all know what's up as soon as we do.

25 days to go till due date
Sorry we haven't put any updates on lately. We have been quite busy and as of Saturday are 36 weeks and 3 days, which gives us 25 days until the due date. We have completed all 3 prepared child birth classes and breast feeding class, so we feel educated in what to expect. Alex turned downward two weeks ago so we know he is headed in the right direction. At the doctor's on Friday he said that they will treat Lisa as though she is full-term so if Alex is ready to come and starts the process they won't do anything to stop it. On the one hand, Lisa is ready for Alex to come and to be done being pregnant, but still feels like there is lots for her to do at work before that happens. So, she is feeling conflicted. For the most part she is still feeling good, though she is having some discomfort as her body continues to prepare for the big day and Alex continues to get bigger. We are now at the weekly doctor appt. point so we will see the doctor again on Thursday and get the first exam to see if things are progressing. We will definitely let everyone know as soon as Lisa starts dilating. We want to thank everyone that came to the shower for their generosity and support. Also, thank you for joining us in celebrating!!!!!

32 weeks

We are less than 2 months to the due date! Everything continues to go well. Last week's doctor's appt. included. Alex's heart rate was 140 and very regular. Lisa's "pregnant belly" is measuring right on target. They want it the same as the weeks of pregnancy and she is right at 32. The doctor said "you have the perfect pregnant belly" so we are excited about that. We see the doctor again at 34 weeks, 36 weeks, and then will go every week after that. Brent and Lisa start child birthing class this Thursday and that will be every Thursday for 4 weeks. Hopefully, this will help everything go smoothly when the big day comes. You can see that Alex is getting bigger and so is Lisa's belly. Lisa is handling the heat ok, but it does seem to wear her out. It will hopefully be better next week when the temperature is suppossed to drop some. Well, that is all we have right now. We will post again when there is more news.

28 weeks

Tomorrow is 29 weeks so we thought we better get a pic and post done today. Everything is still going well! We went to the doctor last week and are now on the every 2 week plan, so we go back next week again. This is normal progression and is NOT in response to any problems or concerns. Lisa had her glucose test and other blood work at the last appt. and it looks ok. Her iron was a little low, but we are going to address that with an over the counter supplement. Alex is probably about 2 pounds and getting bigger everyday. His heart rate is still good and he is moving all around. Lisa's ankles have started to swell everyday now, but again that is par for the course. We will post again next week after the doctor's appt. As always thank you for all of your support, prayers, and overall good wishes.

3rd Trimester

We have made it to the 3rd Trimester, or 27 weeks. As you can see, Alex is getting bigger every week, and so is his mommy. This is the home stretch now. Nothing new to report. Lisa is starting to feel a little more aching and more soreness, but nothing bad. We see the doctor again next week so we will post more then with the newest picture, too.

Doctor's Appt.
Yesterday we had our doctor's appt. He said that everything still looks boring and that is a good thing. Alex is in the 50th percentile on everything (we guess from the ultrasound last time) so the doctor said he is very normal. Lisa has been having quite a bit of shortness of breath and raising pulse with blood pressure, but he feels that it is totally normal. There was a very medical explanation for it all, but basically the body is compensating for extra blood and just sometimes works a little harder than it needs. He gave some suggestions of how to deal with the pulse and blood pressure and says to take it easy when she's out of breath. We both feel much better after hearing that. Alex's heartbeat still sounds great and is very regular, he was also kicking a lot during the time and we could hear it on the heart beat machine. Lisa is feeling him kicking and moving a lot. Brent even felt it once when he gave a good jab. At this point his main job is to gain weight and keep developing, especially his lungs. He will be gaining lots of weight starting now and getting much longer. So, we guess Lisa will be doing the same along with him. We go back again in another 4 weeks, but on a Wednesday. Lisa has to do a glucose test that day which means drinking some yucky stuff and getting blood drawn 1 hour later. We will also see the doctor that day, but won't have the results. The test is a normal one that they always do and isn't a response to a concern, so please don't worry. We also want to again thank everyone, Nick and Trish, Jim and Missy, Sarah and Jon, for all the wonderful baby items. We feel blessed and can only hope that we will one day be able to return the favor to you all for all you have done. We really are in need for nothing to bring Alex home, which is a great relief for us both. As always, keep thinking of us all 3, as we know you are all doing, and we keep you all in our thoughts as well.

Easter and Week 23
Here is Alex's first Easter basket that the Easter Bunny brought to Grammie's house. Kia, Kelsey, and Grammie dyed the Easter egg.
Here is the newest pregnancy pic of Lisa at 23 weeks pregnant. All is still going well for Lisa and Alex. Brent and Lisa are really enjoying being able to call him by name. His room is coming along slowly, but still coming along. We have stripped the wall paper, painted the walls and had carpet laid this past week. Also, we are counting our blessings for our family. Between Brent's brother, Nick and Lisa's step-brother, Jim, we already have everything that we need to bring Alex home. All we need now is a glider rocker for Lisa and an air purifier for the room. We just don't know what we would do without the great family support that we have. Next doctor's appointment is Friday, so will post again soon with that update.

IT'S A BOY!!!
Lisa went for her 20 week ultrasound today. At first Alex didn't cooperate very well, but he finally woke up and started moving around. Everything looks very good. Everything that should be developed has developed normally. We were able to count 10 fingers and 10 toes. So, all-in-all we are very excited, very happy, and very relieved - Brent especially! We will post pictures in the next day or so!!!

20 Weeks

Just an update to let everyone know we are 20 weeks pregnant today. Also, remember that if little baby Bicket cooperates we will know Friday morning if Amelia or Alexander will be joining the family in August. We will post ASAP on Friday. Let us know if you can't wait and need a phone call. We love you all and appreciate all the good wishes that you send everyday. For the only time in the baby's life let's hope that him/her is showing us all their business on Friday morning.

3rd Doctor's Appt.
We went to the doctor again this morning for the every 4 week check-up. We are now in the 16th week and still doing GREAT! Got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, and he or she was so active the Nurse Practitioner couldn't get a completely accurate count. So, we are going to take that activity as a good thing. Lisa hasn't been able to feel any of the movement yet, but can't wait for that moment to come. We go back in 4 more weeks, Friday, April 3rd for the next appt. and the anatomy ultrasound. This is where they will look to make sure everything is developing appropriately and if baby Bicket cooperates we will be able to tell the sex. We will post right after that appt. to let everyone know ASAP. Later that day we will scan in the picture too for all to see. As always, thank you for your prayers, thoughts, and words of encouragement.

2nd Trimester
We have entered the 2nd Trimester today, which is also the 14th week. Nothing really new, Lisa is still really tired, but no nausea or other real problems so she doesn't want to complain. She really would like to be able to make it through a day without feeling like she will fall asleep sitting up. Oh, well. We see the doctor again on March 6th so unless something exciting happens we will post again at that time.

2nd Doctor's Appt.
We are now 12 weeks pregnant and saw the doctor for the 2nd appt. After making sure everything was ok: feeling ok, lab tests good, blood pressure good, etc. he surprised us and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was so strong and healthy sounding and was 160 beats per minute. They want it at least 150 so we are doing well. All is going well with Lisa; she is feeling good and knock on wood still no morning sickness. She continues to be tired, but that's what weekends are for, right? So, with everything still being boring (no news is good news right now) we go back in 4 weeks. Then the next appt. after that one (at 20 weeks) we will have the ultrasound to look at anatomy and try to determine the sex. We will keep you up to date though after each appt. and if anything changes. Keep up the positive thoughts and prayers they are working so far.

It's Official
We are definitely pregnant and everything is where it is supposed to be. This has relived so many fears. We went to our first OB appt. and had our first ultrasound. We got to see the little baby and see his/her heartbeat. Brent wants everyone to know that it looks nothing like him and reminds him of a jelly fish. We are going to try to scan in the picture and post it, but we don't know if it will show up. Doctor said everything looked good and we go back in 4 weeks. Lisa is still feeling good and has no complaints other than she is tired and has lots of indigestion. All in all we are all doing well. Thank you to everyone who has been so excited with us and is praying and keeping us in their thoughts.
